The keepers become prompts
Press Command-S on a text clip to save it as a prompt. Give it a title, an optional AI Tool destination, and tags. Prompts stay until you delete them, even while ordinary history tidies itself up.
One shortcut for clips and prompts
Press Shift-Command-V wherever you are working. Search recent clips or press Command-P for prompts, choose what you need, then press Command-V to paste it yourself.
History that cleans itself up
Mark one clip Burn After Use so the next successful copy removes it from Backpocket, or let ordinary clips expire after an hour, a day, or a week. Favorites and prompts are never expired.
Privacy with receipts
Backpocket has no account, cloud sync, analytics, advertising, tracking, or network access. Its built-in Privacy Report reads the running app's own signature so macOS can confirm the sandbox and signed entitlements.

Frequently asked questions
Good to know before it becomes muscle memory
Does Backpocket upload my clipboard history or prompts?
No. The Mac App Store build is sandboxed and has no network entitlement, so macOS blocks it from making its own network connections. There is no account, cloud sync, analytics, advertising, or tracking.
Does Backpocket paste for me?
No. Choosing a clip or prompt copies it to the clipboard and returns you to the app you were using. Press Command-V to paste it. Backpocket requests no Accessibility, event-posting, or automation access.
What access does Import or Export use?
You choose one file in the standard macOS open or save panel. macOS gives Backpocket access to that file alone for the import or export; Backpocket does not remember the selection or keep ongoing access.
Does AI Tool connect Backpocket to ChatGPT, Claude, or another service?
No. AI Tool is an optional label that helps you organize and search the prompts you use elsewhere. Backpocket does not run prompts, contact a model, or contain an AI integration.
What happens when I copy a password?
Copies marked sensitive by a password manager are skipped by default. If you choose to record recognized sensitive copies, they are visibly badged, kept only for the current app session, and excluded from saved history. An unmarked secret can look like ordinary text, so pause capture first when something must not enter history.
What does Burn After Use do?
The next time the marked clip is successfully copied out of Backpocket, it is removed from Backpocket's history. The content remains on the macOS clipboard; Backpocket can confirm a copy, not whether another app accepted a paste.

Backpocket requires macOS 14 or later.
