Make a move. Send the link. Your move, Mom!

The chat is the table
No new app to join. Turns travel through the chat your family already uses, with all the groaning and gloating that comes with it.

Every move is a little gift
Stick a sticker on your move. When the link opens, it pops, your move plays out, and the board is theirs.

Toys you can almost touch
Gumdrops bounce, balloons splash, pasta letters glow and sheep say baa. Every piece clacks, plonks or squeaks.

Your move in a second
Tap a link and the board is already there while the game loads. No sign-up, no waiting room.

Nothing to buy, ever
No ads, no coins, no upgrades. Every toy in the box is free for everybody.
How a turn works
Your move. Send. Her move.
No need to be online together. Take your turn when it suits you, and the game waits.
Make your move
Pick a toy, say who it's for, and play. Drop a gumdrop, splash a balloon, fence a pen.
Tap Send
Add a sticker if you like. Your phone's share sheet opens with the link: drop it in any chat.
They tap the link
The board appears, your move plays out, your sticker pops, and it's their turn.

GrandpaSave me a seat next time.
Mom taps the link.
The board is there before the game has even loaded. Then Sam's sticker pops, his gumdrop drops, and it's her move.
Six games, one toy box
Pick a toy.
Each one is a classic you already know how to play, rebuilt as a toy you want to pick up.

Gumdrop Drop
Line up four gumdrops
Drop glossy gumdrops into a honey-maple frame. Four of yours in a line, across, up or slanting, wins.
Players: 2 players

Duck Duck Splash
Hide your bath toys, splash theirs
Hide a duck, a crocodile, a sailboat and friends in your tub, then lob water balloons at theirs. Soak every toy to win.
Players: 2 players

Letter Ladle
Fish words out of the soup
Lift the lid and trace words across the pasta letters before the ladle sweeps round the bowl. The whole chat can play the same bowl.
Players: 2 players or the whole chat

Pen and Ewe
Fence a pen, win a sheep
Build one fence at a time. Close a pen and your sheep (or goat) hops in, and you go again. Most pens wins.
Players: 2 players

Felt Tip
Sink your set, then the eight
Pocket-sized pool on a felt table. Pull back the cue, let go, and sink your dots or stripes before the black.
Players: 2 players

Putter Around
Nine little holes
Nine putting holes with a windmill, sand and water. Everyone plays their own round, so nobody waits for anybody.
Players: 2 to 4 players
A fresh picture every move
The preview says whose move it is.
Every move gets its own link and its own picture, so the chat always shows the board as it stands. Hidden toys and unplayed letters stay hidden.

Gumdrop Drop, move 9: your move, Mom.
Duck Duck Splash: every splash and ripple, no hidden toys.
Letter Ladle: the letters stay a surprise. Beat 29 points!
Pen and Ewe: three goats to two sheep.
Felt Tip: Sam's shots are in. Your move, Mom.
Putter Around: the scorecard, nine holes to go.
And when it's over, the chat hears who won.
Real screens
Straight from the game.

The toy box opens on your games, the ones waiting on you first.
No account: just a name and a face, the first time you move.
Pick a sticker, tap Send.
Mom taps Sam's link: the board is there before the game loads.
Sam's sticker pops, his gumdrop lands, and it's Mom's move.
Four gumdrops light up. Rematch?
Duck Duck Splash: a balloon lands in Mom's tub.
Letter Ladle: tracing GOES before the ladle comes round.
Pen and Ewe: goats and sheep in their pens.
Felt Tip: line up the cue and let go.
Ways to play
Near or far, now or later.
Most games are two players. Putter Around takes four. Letter Ladle takes the whole chat.
Across the miles
Grandparents, cousins, the kid at college. One link and they're at the table, on whatever phone they have.
The whole chat
In Letter Ladle, everyone who opens the link plays the same bowl once, up to 30 players. The preview shows the top three.
Live, if you're both there
With the game open on both phones, moves arrive at once. Otherwise it waits, with no turn timer.
One phone, passed around
Pass and play on the couch. Hidden-toy and word games put up a curtain between turns, so nobody peeks.

Practice with Bo the Bot
Warm up against a bot, easy, normal or hard, before you take on Grandma.
Rematch, and keep score
One tap starts the next game with the same players. A friendly tally keeps the family rivalry going.

Questions families ask
What games can we play over text with grandparents?
Toybox Turns has six turn-based games you play through links in any chat app: Gumdrop Drop, Duck Duck Splash, Letter Ladle, Pen and Ewe, Felt Tip and Putter Around. You make a move and send the link; Grandma taps it, sees your move and takes hers whenever she likes. It's free in the browser, with nothing to install and no account.
Is Toybox Turns free?
Yes. Toybox Turns is free to play in your web browser, with no ads, no coins, no upgrades and no in-game purchases. Every game in the toy box is free for everyone.
Do we need an app or an account?
No. Toybox Turns runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, so there's nothing to download. There's no account either: the first time you make a move you pick a short name and a felt animal face, and that's it.
Which games are in Toybox Turns?
Six: Gumdrop Drop (line up four gumdrops), Duck Duck Splash (hide your bath toys and splash theirs with water balloons), Letter Ladle (trace words in a bowl of pasta letters), Pen and Ewe (build fences and close pens to win sheep), Felt Tip (pocket-sized pool) and Putter Around (nine little putting holes).
How many people can play?
Most of the games are for two players. Putter Around is for two to four. Letter Ladle can be two players, or the whole chat: everyone who opens the link plays the same bowl, up to 30 people. You can also practice alone against Bo the Bot.
How does a game over text work?
Open Toybox Turns, pick a game and, if you like, type who it's for. Make your move and tap Send: your phone's share sheet opens with a link, and you drop it into any chat. The link's preview shows the board and says whose move it is. When they tap it, the board appears, your move plays out, and it's their turn. Every move after that works the same way.
Do we have to play at the same time?
No. Each player takes their turn whenever it suits them, and there's no turn timer, except the clock on a Letter Ladle round. If you both have the game open, moves arrive instantly. A game nobody touches for 14 days ends politely.
Is Toybox Turns safe for kids?
Toybox Turns has no ads, no purchases and no chat with strangers. Players send moves and nine friendly stickers, nothing else, and names are short and filtered for rude words. A link shows the board and the players' names and faces to whoever has it, and the first person to open an invite can take the open seat, so send links only to people you know.
How long does a game take?
A turn takes a few seconds to a minute; a Letter Ladle round is 90 seconds. Played live, most games are over in a few minutes, and nine holes of Putter Around in about ten. Over text, a game usually stretches across the day.
What does it run on, and in which languages?
Toybox Turns runs in the web browser on any phone, tablet or computer from the last several years, iPhone or Android, and works in any chat app that can share a link. The game is in English for now.
